EFT - Tapping
What is EFT and how can it help you?
Welcome to EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as tapping or psychological acupressure. Since becoming an EFT practitioner I have been consistently blown away by the power of this incredible practice and I wish for everyone to know it, learn it and use it in their lives.
Developed in the 1990s by Gary Craige, EFT is an alternative approach to alleviating physical pain and emotional distress by tapping into the body's energy system - the meridian points.
At the core of EFT philosophy is the belief that tapping specific points on the body can restore balance to our energy, addressing the root cause of negative emotions and pain and releasing it with ease.
Despite being a very gentle practice, the results are powerful and they last. Using EFT techniques I can help you deal with and release the following:
Stress and Anxiety: Tapping is a powerful tool for alleviating stress and anxiety, helping to calm the nervous system and reduce the emotional intensity tied to certain thoughts or situations. I’ve worked with clients so anxious that, in our first Zoom session, they couldn’t even look at the screen. But after just a few rounds of tapping, they relaxed considerably and even ended up enjoying the process.
Trauma and PTSD: EFT can be used as a complementary approach for individuals dealing with trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It aims to help release emotional distress related to traumatic experiences. A controlled and randomised trial involving veterans with PTSD found that after six one-hour EFT sessions, 90% of participants no longer met the clinical criteria for PTSD, compared to just 4% in the standard care waitlist group. It also doesn’t come back once the issue has been resolved.
Phobias and Fears: Tapping can be a powerful tool for overcoming specific fears and phobias by disrupting the negative thought patterns that fuel them. I’ve worked with many clients struggling with a fear of flying, and the results have been incredible.
Take the fear of flying, for example. How restrictive is that? I KNOW from my clients’ progress that you don’t have to stay stuck in this belief, this overwhelming fear that can feel impossible to break free from. I have received many messages from clients after their flights, filled with total disbelief that their fear had completely vanished, and better still that they actually enjoyed the flight!
Pain Management: EFT tapping can be used to manage physical pain or discomfort. By addressing the emotional aspects associated with pain, we can release them, and in turn, release the pain. Pain is the body’s way of telling us there are unresolved emotional issues that need attention. Your body is talking to you through pain, are you listening?
I had a client who suffered from severe hip pain. But when we started looking into it during our session, the pain moved up to her shoulders. She remembered that when she first felt the pain in her shoulders, she was going through so much hardship—she literally felt the weight of the world on her shoulders! After a few rounds of tapping, she felt an energetic sensation shoot from her shoulder down her arm, and just like that, the pain was gone!
Weight Management: Tapping can be a powerful tool for weight management by addressing emotional eating patterns and reducing cravings. I have worked with clients who felt completely out of control with their eating habits. After EFT, they craved good foods—actually craved them! Your body knows what it needs, but when we have emotional connections with food, it’s those emotions that drive the way we eat. EFT helps you release the emotional ties to food, allowing you to make healthier, happier choices.
Performance Improvement: Athletes, performers, and individuals facing public speaking or performance anxiety may use tapping to manage stress and enhance performance. I’ve worked with many clients to overcome the fear of public speaking, and it’s something I’ve personally cleared as well.
I use EFT tapping before I walk out on stage to give a talk, and instantly, I feel calm and confident. I’ve helped clients shift from deep dread and stage fright to feeling excited about their upcoming event. And while some nerves remain (I think you'd have to be a robot if you didn’t feel a little nervous—but I call these "good nerves" because it means you care!), they’ve noticed a huge difference in their delivery and enjoyment.
Sleep Issues: Tapping is used to address insomnia and other sleep-related problems by reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation. I use EFT with my children to help them sleep, especially on Christmas Eve or the night before their birthday!
I remember one Christmas Eve, my daughter came into my room with her eyes wide open and her breathing quickened—she was so excited that she looked wired! She asked me to do some tapping to help her calm down. After just a few rounds, I could see her relax instantly. We had to wake her up at 8 am on Christmas Day! (Normally, she would have been awake all through the night and up for good by 5 am!)
Self-Esteem and Confidence: Tapping can be utilized to address issues related to self-esteem, self-worth, and confidence by focusing on positive affirmations and releasing negative beliefs.
Depression: While tapping is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment, it can be a powerful complementary tool for managing symptoms by addressing underlying emotional issues. When combined with mindset coaching, the results can be even more impactful.
Addictions: EFT helps break the emotional hold that addictions, such as food, smoking, vaping etc. have over you, giving you the freedom to see them for what they truly are. I also use EFT alongside mindset coaching and manifesting as it’s a great way to uncover any energy blocks that may be holding you back and getting in the way of your manifestations and life vision.
I also use EFT alongside mindset coaching and manifesting, as it's a powerful way to uncover any energy blocks that may be holding you back and preventing you from achieving your manifestations and life vision. Once those energy blocks are released, manifestation becomes easier and faster.
I invite you to embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing through the powerful practice of EFT tapping. Together, we’ll unlock your potential for emotional well-being and physical harmony, exploring the connection between mind, body, and energy. The best part? You don’t have to believe it’ll work for it to work! I’ve worked with total sceptics, and our first few rounds are often spent laughing at how strange they feel. This helps shift the negative thoughts around the practice. But even then, they see the results, and that’s when they start to believe!
Free Yourself From Fears, Phobias and Trauma
In today’s world, we often forget how deeply connected our thoughts and emotions are to our bodies. Take pain, for example. As I’ve said before, when we experience physical pain, it’s often an emotion we haven’t released—our body’s way of communicating with us. Throughout the day, we take things into our nervous system. An argument might leave tension stored in our body, while a warm hug from a child fills us with comfort. This constant interaction shapes our well-being and can quickly shift how we feel.
From an early age, we’re taught to suppress pain and trauma. Phrases like “Boys don’t cry,” or “Come on, get over it—it’s just a little cut,” encourage us to push our emotions down. As we grow older, we continue to bury them, thinking that forgetting is the best way to move on. But when pain and trauma go unaddressed, they don’t just disappear—they manifest in fears, phobias, mental and physical illnesses, and energy blocks that hold us back from a life of joy and ease.
This is where EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), also known as tapping, comes in. It’s like a reset button for the nervous system. Scientific studies have shown that tapping calms the amygdala—the reptilian part of the brain responsible for the fight-or-flight response—helping to bring the body back to a state of balance. I see it all the time with my clients who struggle with anxiety. After just a few rounds of tapping, I can visibly see them relax—their faces soften, their posture shifts. They love it because it’s so effective. Once an issue is cleared, it’s gone; there’s no need for endless sessions. And the best part? Once you learn the practice, you can use it yourself at home.
EFT works beautifully on its own, but it can also be combined with mindset coaching for even deeper transformation. This excites me because it adds another layer to personal growth, helping to release any emotional blocks that may be standing in your way. After a complimentary consultation, we can pinpoint exactly where to start. Results vary depending on the person and the level of trauma attached to the issue. Some clients, especially children, release fears in just one session. I like to think of our emotional struggles as layers of an onion: the sooner we address them, the faster we can release them.
I’ve seen clients free themselves from emotional ties to food in just 20 minutes of tapping. However, follow-up sessions were needed to work through all aspects of the issue. It’s different for everyone. The key is finding that sense of release and ease, you’ll know when you’ve reached it, not me.
I usually recommend a minimum of two sessions to ensure everything has been covered, but this is entirely personal. Some people need more time to open up, while others get straight to the root of the issue. There’s no right or wrong, it’s all about what works best for you.
A Gentle Therapy
Some traumas and past experiences can be incredibly challenging to confront, and this is where the effectiveness of EFT truly shines. I've had the privilege of working with clients who initially found it too difficult to even discuss their trauma openly. Unlike some therapies, EFT doesn't require you to delve into the painful details or revisit the past right away. We approach the issue from a distance, ensuring you're always in control of the process.
In fact, you can begin sessions simply by tapping, without needing to say a word, and still experience a calming effect. Gradually, over a few sessions, you might discover the ability to talk openly about past traumas without attaching overwhelming emotions to them. The ultimate goal is to release the blocked energy and trauma, liberating you to move forward unburdened by the past.
As we work together, the aim is to create a new path, one that is free from the weight of trauma and pain, allowing you to embrace a future unencumbered by past struggles.
